Technology decisions are governance decisions

Technology choices shape organisations in ways that are rarely acknowledged.
Platforms define workflows. Data structures define visibility. Permissions define authority. Integration defines dependency. Over time, these choices shape how power is exercised and how work is coordinated.
When technology decisions are treated as procurement exercises, governance is designed by default rather than by intent. Control shifts. Accountability blurs. Decision-making becomes embedded in systems rather than structures.
Effective organisations recognise that technology decisions are governance decisions. They require the same level of scrutiny, clarity, and strategic intent.
Architecture is not technical. It is organisational.
